A man was walking to his room through the hallway when he
happens to meet Mrs. Reese. Mrs. Reese was a woman of 30, 40 years of age or
somewhere in between. Need you doubt her age? It astonishes me too how a woman
can look so charming yet be a character of hate.
“Greetings Mrs. Reese”
“Hello Otto”
The words filled the silence in the hall as it was a day off
and that any of the court’s hearing would be proceeded on that day. Otto was
the convicted whom Mrs. Reese was hired to save.
Mrs Reese, is the local lawyer and if I were to say one of
the best, last summer was when I met her, probably the first time after childhood, at Restaurant Calv, behind
the court of Comero, and also to include, between the court and Prison Valci. It was also then
that I found out she is divorced.
Mrs. Reese appeared infront of me all of a sudden.
“What did Otto say, Mrs. Reese?”
“Nothing much Dr. Van, what made you here?” asked Mrs. Reese
“Just passing by.”
“Snooping around the corners of the court, isn’t that
strange?”
“I forgot my bag in the room.” I said, barely enough to cover
my lie
“I’ll get it for you. Key?”
I shrugged but I knew I had to hand her.
I lived in a single room all by myself, say a minute away
from the court. I rarely take my bag back to my place. I got a bit scared if I
had it in my home this time. I was ready to fall prey to my faulty memory once
again.
“Take it.” “Good day Van.”
It felt light even if I had to carry my heavy bagpack home just to bring it back the next day.
I started taking steps to my place. Until I see my eyes slowly unblur to see
Otto and his black man on the side.
And, oh my, Need I describe Otto?
